  • Cost of Owning A Piper Cherokee? Wondering the cost of owning a piper cherokee 140 or 160. Looking to find a rough estimate annually. I know its hard to say exactly but if there are any Cherokee owners out there, could you please give me some insight on what it cost to own a small airplane like that. Minus of course the initial cost of the aircraft.

    20,000 there getting rare

  • David says:

The costs have to include. Fuel – per hour costs (these use 8-9gal/hr at 4.00+/- per gal) Tie Down – per month (around 200) Insurance – per year (around 1500-2000 depending on Pilot) Annual Inspection – per year (about 1500+) Incidental Maintenance – as needed (some amount, depends on the aircraft can use the engine reserve amount as an estimate) Engine Reserve – (to rebuild the engine) varies depending on current time on the engine, the engines have 2000hr TBO and cost about 15K to overhaul 2000/15K=7.50/hr needed per hour

    roughly $100,000 on average

  • It doesn’t have to be expensive. But first: why do you want a Cessna or Piper? If you can do with only two seats, consider a light homebuilt aircraft that you fly under the Sport Pilot license (or microlight license in Europe). The main difference is that GA aircraft like Cessna and Piper are certified engines, certified airframes and they have to be maintained by certified mechanics. As a homebuilt, you can fly anything under the Experimental rule. But if you can do with a lightweight aircraft, the Sport Pilot is the easiest as it doesn’t have to requirements from the PPL license. As a guide, I bought a second-hand homebuilt Kitfox, here in Norway, and it cost me about USD 32,000. The maintenance cost is very cheap because I am allowed to maintain it myself. Fuel is about 4 gallons per hour and add a bit more for insurance, hangar and landing fee. Altogether, about the price of a car. The Kitfox is a two-seater and I have been flying from Norway to Belgium, Germany, Denmark and Sweden. So, you see, once in the air, your’re just like any aircraft.

It depends. First, you have to factor in the price of the acft. Do you want your own or fractional ownership with several other people. Then you have to add in maintenance, fuel, landing and hanger or tiedown fees. Figure on approx 15 grand a year if you are in a fractional ownership. The price could always be more.

Expect to spend at least $10,000 to $12,000 annually for even the simplest single-engine airplane. Always expect to spend more than you anticipated, because $h!t happens. For a business twin, expect to spend $50,000 per year.

You guys never listen to me. I’ve owned airplanes, sailboats and been married twice. Unless tearing up hundred dollar bills is a fun thing for you, listen to me once and for all. Ya ready? Now listen and learn: If it flies, floats or fornicates, RENT IT.

  • It’ll always cost you more than you’ve planned.

  • Let’s see…I would take out the Aretha Franklin album solely because it does not really fit in with the rest of the albums listed. “I Never Loved a Man the Way I Love You” is still an iconic album, but in its place I would put ‘Something Else by the Kinks.’ Not a bad song on that album. Da Capo by Love?? The second half of the album is cool, but not great by any means. Why not ‘Forever Changes’(by the same group for those not in the know) which is one of the greatest albums of all time let alone 1967.

Those of us that live with and in Jesus understand what you are saying. We know what its like to have an emptiness that nothing else but God can fill.Do not let what others say make you doubt yur faith.God is real and no matter where you are if you believe and have faith he is with you.

  • Dave777 says:

Dear Cindy : You have heard from the HERD of atheist and “others” who do not see JESUS as THE SAVIOR. They wish to discourage you and put you down for your sincere belief in GOD’s provision for a fallen world >>> JESUS CHRIST. IGNORE THEM These are the “nay -sayers” who truly are not happy with their “religion” or lack there of. Their main goal here is to put down Christians and raise up whatever else is opposed. Many of them are very ernest in their beliefs. Mainly because their relatives and culture compel them to conform to what they were born into. I AGREE, it truly is a shame that so many are DECEIVED into believing that any OLDE PIPER CUB will get them into heaven. As a pilot of small aircraft I have never flown the BIG IRON and most likely never will. HOWEVER IN JESUS CHRIST I FLY FIRST CLASS ON AN INTERSTELLAR STAR SHIP. JESUS BLESS YOU IGNORE THE “NAY SAYERS” dave

  • mountainman says:

Well, let me take the “shame” off of you. I am happy that with Jesus you feel you are first class,If your life is truly better, more power to you. I,however, don’t feel sad and empty. I don’t feel my life is a “broken down piper cub”. I have peace,I have love, and I have given my life much purpose. I am sure this also applies to many an atheist. So you don’t have to think “it’s a shame” now that you have been informed that we are not “missing out”on anything. You can take the word of someone whose feelings you question,or you can decide,or let your pastor decide, how I feel. Personally, I would take the word of the person who you said was “missing out”. You know, straight from the horse’s mouth,as the saying goes.It wouldn’t seem logical to let anyone other than the people decide how they feel. Thanks for your concern though. Let me ease your mind with one other bit. Whether you are Christian,Muslim,Atheist,Wicca, etc. ,NEVER waste your time wondering if you will “go to hell”. I assure you,you will not

  • Janet L says:

Oh good grief. It’s only a shame if you believe he is the son of god. He isn’t in my beliefs. I find it weird that you associate him with material things like flying first class.

  • Mr. X Senior says:

I’d been flying in the first class on almost all my business trip on first class airline. However, I have not been fly on the wing of a broken down piper club. It’s sound fun. I might be feeling like a SUPERMAN. I think he is more capable them your Jesus for very sure. He had proved saved so many lifes , killed so many enemies of the people. If you count one apple to one apple , i think he is more hero than Jesus. Please try again. God bless you.

  • Rivet gun says:

Yes, You will need a minimum of a Private Pilot’s licence which can be issued by the Irish Aviation Authority to rules set by the Joint Aviation Authorities. To fly a Seneca you also need a Class Rating for Multi Engine Piston aircraft. An instrument rating is not mandatory, but without it you can only fly according to Visual Flight Rules (VFR). Insurance is mandatory for Third Party cover. You don’t have to insure the aircraft its self.

  • ih8robots says:

Yes. A Piper Seneca will require you to have at minimum. A Private Pilot Certificate with a Multi Engine Rating. Insurance requirements will be based on your experience and the value of the aircraft. Expect to have at least 100 hours to be insurable in something like a Seneca which isnt really a beginner aircraft. Also, insurance companies may require you to have an Instrument Rating.

  • A piper airplane and a b737 aircraft cross each other at different altitudes, traveling? in opposite directions, the b737 travels 5 times the speed of the piper. If in 4 hours they are 2,160 miles apart, find the speed of each aircraft.

  • Nick T says:

    Write it out as an equation 4(5x + x) = 2160
