Information On Polar Bears

Global Warming- Cute but Sad Video

They’re adorable, cuddly and utterly vulnerable. Polar bears grab the admiration as well as attention of people the world over for their fluffy bright coats and huggable size. They garner honor from pet fans for their searching ability as well as survival tactics in one of the harshest atmospheres on Planet. Yet in spite of their frustrating popularity these giants are actually in hazard of being wiped off Planet entirely.

The Bear Essential
Polar bears are a substantial varieties that make their homes on the frozen Arctic sea. The bears will certainly spend the majority of their lives on the ice. Males are able to grow up to ten feet in span and weigh in at over 1,400 pounds! The bears are carnivores, indicating they consist primarily on a diet made up of the meat of more Arctic animals. At present there are predicted to be actually just less than 50 thousands polar bears left in the wild. They are actually on the Endangered Animal List.

Why They’re At Hazard
The biggest risk to the survival of the polar bear species is the noted warming of the Arctic ocean which is leading to the melting of the ice these bears call home. Although the bears make use of the ice for breeding and relaxing as well, it’s principal element is to provide a cover for the bears as they hunt seals. Without appropriate ice, the bears are able to not extend a long way sufficient from land to hunt ample food to endure. The bears are emerging as malnourished and lots of are perishing of hunger. This dynamic is actually effecting female bears by having cubs in a exceptional amount causing lesser survival rates of the newer generations. Extra risks to polar bears consist of increased run ins with humans due to the forced time spent on land, and spills, development and freight techniques relating to oil in the Arctic.

Intervention in the form of authorities controls to diminish human influence has actually been actually highlighted as a priority in America and additional countries. In addition, exclusive businesses and interest bunches go on to lobby as well as perform with the authorities to protect this valued pet in its natural environment. Aside from authorities intervention, further investigation pertaining to global warming is actually critical so that the temperature change are able to be stopped or turned around. There are actually agencies that are raising cash for this surprisingly purpose. One more method communities are actually helping the polar bear is actually to make use of qualified bear patrol agents to keep the land bound polar bears from people and to make certain that the bears are not contending also highly with the folks for the food resources on land.

Know-how is actually power. Emerge as more informed regarding this valuable topic by visiting Polar Bears at World Wild Life.

  • So if polar bears go extinct, nothing (drastic) happens? I’ve been doing a bit of research (googling and lurking around here mostly) but from what I’ve gathered, the extinction of that particular species of polar bear that’s threatened won’t affect much in the world. Apparently seal populations might go up but then the population of another predator that could kill the seals would go up until everything plateaus again… And after that nothing happens…right?

  • Brad C says:

Basically nothing will happen(except what you said(the seal population may not be able to be controlled by another predator)), but the thing is. There will be no more polar bears. You will never see one. They will be only known in the past. Only pictures will be around to represent them. Its like losing a parent when you are a baby. You wish you could know/see them, but you have to just rely on stories and pictures(though, today there are videos, but you get my point). This is why people don’t want polar bears to go extinct. Also it would be another example of us destroying thousands of creatures just so we have an easier time.

  • jj l says:

Well if the polar bears disappear, then of course the seal populations will go up. Then the seals will eat more fish etc etc etc….I don’t think the changes would be drastic, but I’d hate to see a large mammal go to extinction.

  • Mitchell J says:

…most likely…the problem is that we still don’t understand the complexity of linkages between animals within an ecosystem. Because of the intensly harsh climate and struggle for survival that it requires, the loss of a large predator in the arctic may lead to other species losses. Like when sheep were introduced to hawaii and they eradicated a particular flower that happened to bloom during a 4-week spring period. During that spring period a particular butterfly larvae would dine exclusively on the foliage of said flower and a particular species of rare and very beautiful hawaiian bird adapted to the normal abundance of larvae and hatched its chicks during this 4-week period. Except when the flowers were gone, the larvae died out and so did the chicks. The bird went extinct because of sheep.

  • readupmore. says:

It could have a great effect. Read up on the butterfly chaos theory.

  • Carolyn says:

the rainforest helps us not have global warming, but as pple cut down more and more trees, it’s gonna affect us and the animals. yes it will affect the animals and yes they will go extinct. if there was global warming, we’d all die.

  • Noone N says:

No one knows and no one can even make a reasonable guess because we have no idea how warm it will get. If it gets warm enough, polar bears and penquins will have to adapt or become extinct. I would say the polar bears have a better chance of adapting to a significant change in temperatures because they are less specialized. On the other hand, there are also penquins that do not live in Antartica so once again, who knows. No we are not going to lose Antartica, it’s a continent and it’s not going to get hot enough to melt rock so it will still be there. There will probably be less ice, but then there are parts of Antartica that are not covered with ice even now. In general, life will adapt to what ever is thrown at it. It always has and it always will. Life goes on.

  • If global warming was to happen all of the arctic animals would no longer have any place cold enough for them to live and the ocean would start to rise and all of the coastal areas would now be a part of the ocean, the eventually the whole world will once again be nothing but oceans and we would enter another ice age and the surviving animals would start the world again, if you watch discovery channel they talk about that all the time.

life will find a way dun worry

  • Bobby B says:

by them having been saved from extinction

  • Shelli says:

Help Stop Global Warming by doing your part: Change to energy saving light bulbs Get more home insulation Turn Lights off when you leave the room SAVE THE POLAR BEARS!! their cute :P

  • idk, kill people who harm them??noo idea.

  • ppth says:

The polar bear is not going extinct. There are more now then there have been in a long time.

  • Guru says:

Extinction is normal in biological systems, but very rare, often as low as one or two species a decade. The overwhelming reason species are dying out so fast is that humans are making their living spaces uninhabitable or are killing them outright. It may be too late for the polar bear.

  • Nat says:

That would be hard. You would have to get everybody to stop using gas, cars, manufacturing etc. And if you didn’t want to do that you’d have to fix the ozone. (which isn’t possible…yet.) Still you could send a message out there. P.S. POLAR BEARS are kool

  • lesaber251 says:

I guess they could eat the penguins instead of seals.

  • Zhuge L says:

It could be if warming trends continue, but on the other hand, it could be bad for all parties involved. For instance, a hypothetical: penguins exist in relative peace without the concern of many predators. Bears could conceivably feast on these birds, dwindling the population of penguins, causing the bears’ population to explode, and in turn starving the bears due to overpopulation and lack of food. It would be devastating for both species, and possibly others as well. Chain reactions are part of what’s causing the melting (solar-reflecting ice replaced by solar-absorbing water), and it definitely applies to ecosystems as well. Ecosystems are delicate and evolve over time with built in checks and balances — even small organisms can wreak havoc when thrown into one. Inserting a new species, especially a large predator, is something to do with great care. The sad truth is, as reports have said, polar bears may be extinct outside of zoos in within the century.

  • Anders says:

I am concerned about that too. I think that polar bears could survive, relatively unchanged, there. However, I think that moving polar bears to the Antarctic might be proved disastrous to some of the native species. I am particularly thinking about the penguins. They (at least some species there) spend the winter months caring for their egg. They stand in large colonies and carry it on their feet. With a couple of polar bears there, an unknown predator, and an egg on their feet, the situation looks pretty grim. Polar bears will survive, as they have habitat on Canada and so on, but their feeding habits will have to change. They will most likely evolve to resemble the Brown bear in appearance, and habits.

  • Sascha says:

yes, but the penguins won’t like it.
