Polar Bears Facts
They’re adorable, cuddly and absolutely vulnerable. Polar bears capture the admiration as well as recognition of folks the world over for their fluffy white furs and huggable size. They win recognition from pet enthusiasts for their hunting ability as well as survival strategies in one of the harshest environments on Earth. However in spite of their overpowering recognition these giants are in danger of being actually wiped off Planet absolutely.
The Bear Essential
Polar bears are actually a enormous animals that make their homes on the frozen Arctic marine. The bears are going to spend the majority of their lives on the ice. Males can easily increase up to ten feet in duration as well as weigh in at over 1,400 pounds! The bears are carnivores, implying they consist mainly on a diet made up of the meat of other Arctic animals. At current there are predicted to be actually only 20-50,000 Arctic polar bears left in the wild. They are actually on the Endangered Animal List.
Why They’re At Hazard
The greatest prospect to the survival of the polar bear animals is the noted warming of the Arctic marine which is leading to the melting of the ice these bears call residence. Although the bears make use of the ice for breeding and relaxing as well, it’s key element is to give a cover for the bears as they hunt seals. Without sufficient ice, the bears can easily not expand a long way sufficient from land to hunt ample food to thrive. The bears are turning into malnourished as well as numerous are expiring of starvation. This dynamic is effecting female bears by having cubs in a great amount causing lesser survival rates of the newer generations. Additional hazards to polar bears consist of increased run ins with individuals due to the forced time spent on land, and spills, improvement and shipping procedures reporting to oil in the Arctic.
That Is Helping, as well as How
Major contributors to the match to save the Arctic Polar Bear include the Coca-Cola Company as well as the World Fauna Fund. All together these businesses are actually raising cash to research exactly what is actually causing global climate change as well as working with governmental agencies to manipulate greenhouse gas emissions. Additional significant ventures feature efforts to eliminate unfavorable human interactions consisting of poaching as well as extreme tourism as well as safeguarding critical environment areas such as birthing dens.
One can easily get entailed in the search to cut the Arctic Polar Bears by functioning directly with the World Wildlife Fund. Begin your gratifying journey today by paying a visit to Polar Bears at World Wild Life.

Can Polar Bears live in the Antarctic? Every few weeks, there is another story about the melting ice caps. Today, a story reported that there will soon be an open ship route over the arctic. Like many people, I am concerned about the polar bears slipping into extinction. There is no land mass at the northern pole, but of course, there is in the Antarctic. If polar bears were moved to the southern pole, could they survive? Is there any reason to believe that they would cause a significant disruption to the Antarctic ecosystem? Would this be a viable solution to preserve their species? Hello, Thank you for your comments. I fully understand what you are saying. I have actually spoken with the foremost US researcher on climatology, and he concurrs with you. There was a wonderful documentary done by the History channel called, “The Little Ice Age” that chronicaled the warming trend in the Middle Ages that created a fertile Greenland and assisted the rise of teh Vikings. Like you, I was also raised before school became indoctrination. In this case, it is a little more difficult for me to know what to believe. For each convincing scientific report favoring the cause of global warming, there is an equally convincing report debunking it. I am keeping an open mind on the cause of the issue– greenhouse gas vs. natural trend– but clearly, there are observable and rapid changes, regardless of the cause. When projections claim the possibility of no polar ice by 2070, if correct, it does cause alarm for the viability of the species. Honestly, I don’t know what’s accurate, and my personal carbon footprint must be enormous. If this is true, I am willing to make personal changes because the future cost is too high. If it is not true, then we have all been duped and alarmed for political gain. If we respond unnecessarily, there is no consequence, save the additional cost of life modification. If we do nothing and they are right, then history will judge us harshly. What to do? What to believe? I certainly appreciate and am open to all evidence on this issue.
I am concerned about that too. I think that polar bears could survive, relatively unchanged, there. However, I think that moving polar bears to the Antarctic might be proved disastrous to some of the native species. I am particularly thinking about the penguins. They (at least some species there) spend the winter months caring for their egg. They stand in large colonies and carry it on their feet. With a couple of polar bears there, an unknown predator, and an egg on their feet, the situation looks pretty grim. Polar bears will survive, as they have habitat on Canada and so on, but their feeding habits will have to change. They will most likely evolve to resemble the Brown bear in appearance, and habits.
How would we round up all the polar bears ? Would that be all we need to do? How about we move to another of God’s planets, and mess that planet up as well !
It could be if warming trends continue, but on the other hand, it could be bad for all parties involved. For instance, a hypothetical: penguins exist in relative peace without the concern of many predators. Bears could conceivably feast on these birds, dwindling the population of penguins, causing the bears’ population to explode, and in turn starving the bears due to overpopulation and lack of food. It would be devastating for both species, and possibly others as well. Chain reactions are part of what’s causing the melting (solar-reflecting ice replaced by solar-absorbing water), and it definitely applies to ecosystems as well. Ecosystems are delicate and evolve over time with built in checks and balances — even small organisms can wreak havoc when thrown into one. Inserting a new species, especially a large predator, is something to do with great care. The sad truth is, as reports have said, polar bears may be extinct outside of zoos in within the century.
The only they could survive is if their food supply moved there as well. Currently they would starve.
I’m sorry but the polar bears are goners… I wish it wasn’t so… But there are plenty of things we can do to reverse anthropogenic global warming: http://wisepagan.com/article003.html And there is PLENTY of Hard Science to show us that we are causing Global Warming: The Official Site of the IPCC: http://www.ipcc.ch/present/graphics.htm Also – know your enemy – it is the AAPG – American Association of Petroleum Geologists and Lockheed Martin. These two organizations are behind the “don’t believe in it” propaganda. Their motive is simple – keep America from switching to Green Energy. Do you ever wonder why we aren’t allowed to buy all the electric cars that have been invented over the years? It is because the oil companies have powerful lobbyists to make sure it doesn’t happen. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/American_Association_of_Petroleum_Geologists
If the polar bears are…? on the brink of extinction….. why cant they simply relocate them to where the penguins are?? or have i missed the point on this one???
lol that’s a good idea! Never thought about it.
I dunno then the penguins would be extinct from becoming lunch..
Because they are stupid animals and dont know jack $#!+
Arctic Community and Global Warming.? I want to hear other people’s opinions on this: What selfish reasons can you give for wanting the arctic community to continue functioning the way it has been? Is drilling for oil worth the risk of contributing to polar bear extinction? What is more valuable, maintaing your lifestyle or the artic community? Please tell me what you think and your views on the issue of global warming and the effects it has on polar bears and the arctic? Please add points that you have. Right now I am not that educated on the issue and I have formed a slight opinion but I would like to hear pros and cons from other people to help educate myself. Thanks!
I don’t know how exactly drilling for oil will harm the ” Arctic community “. How many bears do we really have to drill through to get more oil??
The artic is not affected by GW. Gore’s movie is a lie. The ice pictures are computer generated. The poor polar bare pictures was also a fake. The polar bare is one of the worst animals in the world. The Kodiak grizzly bare is very similar. The green house gas is not there….
Your figures only count the domesticated huskies, not wild. Also, huskies can be bred in captivity very simply, then released, a difficult feat with polar bears. Also the greatest problem with polar bears is that they have no other suitable habitat they could be moved to, while huskies, being dogs, could quite easily survive in a normal climate, hunting other sorts of food.
